We hear a lot these days about the local-food movement. At Cheese Curds, we aren’t trying to be trendy—we simply see the value in using local suppliers whenever we can. Of course there are the environmental benefits of burning less fuel and covering less distance. Beyond that, we want to build relationships with our neighbours and fellow food purveyors.

As a small, local business, we like being able to help out the little guy instead of lining the pockets of the big food conglomerates. Yes, sometimes this means we may pay a little more for our ingredients. But the value we get for every dollar spent locally outweighs any extra cost. And as we expand outside of our home province of Nova Scotia, we will expect our partners to do the same in their local regions.
